Informations

The village of Saanen, the historical heart of Saanenland, gets its unique character from its small streets and alleys, lined with old wooden chalets dominated by the 15th century Mauritius church. History, tradition, and rich craftsmanship give the village its special charm. Indeed the entire village is classified as monument of ‘national value’ and is an officially-protected townscape of Switzerland.

The holiday region Gstaad-Saanen is unique in so many ways. Here the holiday guest will find the mental and physical space to “come up and slow down”. This is combined with a most comprehensive selection of sporting and cultural activities, everything embedded in a magnificent alpine world. In Saanenland, alpine purity is not just promoted but actually lived, thanks to the region’s century-old tradition of tourism excellence. The area has about 150 farms, 80 alps operated just as in years gone by, and more cows than inhabitants, about 7,000 in all. The houses in their chalet style shape the villages of the region, and forests, meadows, streams and lakes surrounded by a breathtaking mountain panorama form an impressive backdrop for your holiday.
